The PEOPLE
The Egyptian culture is strikingly rich, and with such a vast cultural heritage it is no wonder... officially known the Arab Republic of Egypt, religion plays a central role in the lives of it's people. The majority of the population are Muslim and prayer calls will form a hypnotic aural backdrop to your visit. Cairo's spralling cityscape is peppered with mosque minarets and church towers and boasts a beautiful grand central mosque at the Castle of Saladin. There is also a significant Christain community present, many of whom bleong to the Coptic Orthodox Church. As with many countries that rely so heavily on tourism, the Egyptian people are incredibly welcoming. My advice to you would be to enjoy the culture and it's people; Egypt is far more than just a bunch of old ruins.
